Kirsten Stephanie Hartwick passed away unexpectedly and suddenly on January 9, 2025. Born in Washington D.C. on January 13, 1983, she was only 41 years old.
She was the daughter of Douglas Hartwick and Regina Zuehlke-Hartwick and the elder sister to Andrea Lankford.
Kirsten is survived by her parents, sister Andrea, brother-in-law Sean, niece Lucy and nephew Toby. Kirsten's uncle Phil and Aunt Marcia reside in New Zealand along with her 6 cousins. She also leaves behind her partner Thomas (TJ) Kelber and his family.
Kirsten, who went by "Ki" for most who knew her (few were able to pronounce or spell her name correctly, so, she solved the problem by simplifying it to Ki) was a loving, intelligent and deeply caring person with a zany sense of humor. She loved music, was a talented and creative decorator and writer and had a special bond with dogs, in particular, her own dog of many years Sydney, an Australian blue healer. She enjoyed hiking in Arizona's beautiful mountains and worked as an occasional fitness trainer.
Kirsten mostly grew up overseas with her parents as the family served as American diplomats in the U.S. Foreign Service, including Africa, India, Malaysia and Laos. After high school, she studied in Cologne Germany, London, England, and attended Virginia Tech University. She was conversant in German and loved to travel. She moved to Tucson in 2009 and later to the Phoenix area.
Donations in her memory can be made to the ASPCA.org
