Leighton Nicole Meyers was born June 8, 1996, in Kingman, Arizona, and passed away on October 22, 2025 in Tempe, Arizona.
Leighton lived a diverse life and had varied experiences. Although she was born in Kingman, she was raised in the Bullhead City/Laughlin area where she graduated high school. While attending high school she also earned an Associates degree at Mohave Community College.
The next stop on her journey took her to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where she attended, and graduated from, Chatham University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing.
She then moved back to Arizona, this time settling in the Phoenix area. While in Phoenix, Leighton explored different paths, starting as an Instructional Assistant at an elementary school, then becoming a high school teacher.
She eventually found her way to Oscar Health where she started as a claims processor, and ended as a Claims Configuration Associate.
Leighton was always learning. She put hours into studying python, java, among other programming languages. She also took physics and math courses in exploration of a possible medical career.
Leighton was a lover of animals and her cats were her world. She even helped reunite local lost cats with their owners. Three cats were reunited with their owners thanks to her efforts. A chicken even found her way to an animal sanctuary with her assistance.
Leighton's hobbies included reading and writing. She was a prolific and fast reader. She also enjoyed road trips, and her favorite travel destination was in Shelter Cove, California, where she enjoyed walks on the different beaches and observing the local wildlife.
Leighton was also married in 2017 and remained so until her death. She is survived by her husband Jorge Trompisto, stepson Zephyr, and her parents Elizabeth, Troy, and Roy.
