Tarrence Isaiah Sykes

Age 28 of Norfolk, VA

Tarrence Isaiah Sykes, born January 10, 1998, passed away on March 23, 2026, at the age of 28 in Phoenix, Arizona. Though his time here was brief, the love and light he shared will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew him.

Tarrence was a loving, humorous, and kind son, brother and friend whose presence could brighten any room. He had a natural gift for making people laugh, often lifting others even when he himself was facing challenges. His warmth, compassion, and genuine spirit made him someone people were drawn to— a true friend to everyone he met.

He worked as a laborer and took pride in giving his best in everything he did. Tarrence believed deeply in perseverance and often reminded others that “nothing beats a failure but a try.” Despite the struggles he faced, he continued to push forward, working hard and striving to accomplish the goals he set for himself.

Tarrence faced his inner battles with quiet courage, yet remained forgiving, understanding, and full of love. Tarrence’s greatest joy in life was his beloved son, Al Azeem Khali Sykes El (Aci). Being a father meant everything to him, and his love for his son was deep and unwavering.

He is survived and lovingly remembered by his son, Aci Sykes; his beloved girlfriend, Calista Dutcher; his mother, Tara Sawyer; his father, Eric Sykes Sr.; siblings Cheryl Sawyer, Katherine Sanders, Eric Sykes Jr., Adrien Sykes; and step-siblings Ramonda Ruffin, Britney Ruffin, Stanley Ruffin; grandparents Shirley Johnson and John Johnson; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.

He is preceded in passing by his uncle Anthony Sawyer, grandparents Earl Baum, Francine Griffin, and Bernard Morgan Sr.

Tarrence will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
