Thomas Hugh Stiles Sr., 78, of Buckeye, Arizona passed away May 2024 while in the comfort of his oldest daughter, Linda Marie's loving arms.  Thomas graduated with his GED while serving in the United States Army.  Thomas was a kind loving man with a true fighting spirit for his country, his family, and God.  Thomas honorably served his country for 8 years, serving in Wurzburg, Germany, then two tours in Vietnam, and finally 5 years active duty state side.


Thomas was awarded the following medals during his 8 years of service.  

The National Defense Service Medal.

The Code of Good Conduct Medal.

The Marksman Award. (111 Light Weapons Infantry)

The Vietnam Service Medal. (111 Light Weapons Infantry)

The Bronze Star. (Thomas first Vietnam Tour)

A Second Bronze Star. (Thomas second Vietnam Tour)

The Military Justice Award.

The Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Devices. The VCM/60D involved greater than 6 months direct combat service in which Thomas was wounded in his left knee.  


It was from these acts of service and kindness that Thomas went on to serve others in his 30 year career while working for the City of Phoenix TransDev Organization.  During his time with the TransDev Organization, Thomas served many years as the organization's Vice President of Phoenix Union Busing System.


In his spare time Thomas loved to spend time with his eldest daughter, Linda Marie,; his granddaughter, Lindsey,; and his great granddaughter, Caroline. Thomas favorite things being singing, dancing, walking, and enjoying home cooked meals.  Even in his last moments Thomas was known for his smile, kindness, love of family and love of Christian Hymns.

 

Thomas is predeceased by his parents Mildred and Therold Stiles,;  his brother, Robert; his twin brother,Teddy, and wife Linda May. Thomas leaves behind 7 adult children:  Linda Marie, Thomas Jr., and Iva and 4 others; adult grandchildren Lindsey, Jesse, Seth and 5 others; great grandchildren, Caroline and 6 others.  Additionally, Thomas leaves behind his sisters:  Darlene, June (Jim) and Betty.


A memorial service will be held June 28, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the Family Burial and Cremation Center, 237 South Sirrine, Ste. 101 in Mesa, Arizona with Pastor Osuna.
