Retired TSgt Thomas "Tom" P. Gowing joined his heavenly family on the morning of January 20, 2024. Tom was born on September 22, 1949 to Milton Francis Gowing and Rita Marie Gowing of Swanton, Ohio. He grew up with a love of auto mechanics and woodworking, which continued throughout his life. He enlisted into the United States Air Force in June 1970. His 20 years as a USAF AMMO member took him to Myrtle Beach AFB, Hahn AFB, Eglin AFB, Welford/Greenham AFB, Hurlburt AFB. Including remotes to Korea and Alaska before retiring in August 1990. He settled in Mesa, Arizona where he was a member of the American Legion Post 27, Legion Riders Apache Post 27, VFW Post 9399 and Fraternal Order of Eagles #3750.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Rita; bothers, Larry, Lenny, Jim and Jerome. He is survived by his children, Susan (Kyle) Coxwell, Thomas Jr (Lindsay) Gowing, Scott (Trish) Gowing and his 8 granddaughters and 1 grandson. He is also survived by his siblings, Linda, David, Sharon, Philip, Ken, Joyce and Marvin.
The joy of life was brought back to him in December 2003 when he met his "sweetie", Carol Davey. They spent 20 years full of love, laughter and fun together.
There will be a small family celebration at a later date in Ohio, per his wishes. The children would like to thank the ICU staff at Carl T Hayden VA Medical Center for their compassionate care of their father.
